The COMMANDIA project (Collaborative Robotic Mobile Manipulation of Deformable Objects in Industrial Applications) is a multi-sector project coordinated by Sigma-Clermont University (France), with the participation of INESCOP, the University of Zaragoza, the University of Alicante, and the University of Coimbra (Portugal). It aims to improve the competitiveness and working conditions of industries by automating processes through the introduction of robots. The application of COMMANDIA in the footwear sector enables the robotic manipulation of soles using electric grippers, preventing surface damage. Thanks to a multi-camera vision system, the robots are able to manipulate the sole and position it on the shoe with the necessary precision, adapting it to a complex surface.
